Candlewicking Quilt

I've been working on so many things but I wanted to post pictures of this quilt I recently finished.  The center is from a candlewicking kit I picked up at a thrift store last year. My grandma loved doing candlewicking and I wanted to make this in her honor. It was a lot of fun to make and I can understand why she enjoyed doing it so much. I actually made another piece that is all hearts. I found a couple kits that belonged to Little, mostly Christmas, and I hope to finish them soon.

Hanky pouch

I finished this "hanky pouch" this morning. I was in inspired by this. The millinery and buttons are vintage. The pouch itself is made from linen. I am so happy with how it has turned out, I want to make a few more as gifts.

Knit Witts

I visited this shop in Evansville Indiana last weekend with Ariane. It's very cute and bright. I bought yarn to make two new cowls for Christmas. As soon as my wrist feels better I can start them. I haven't been able to knit or crochet for a couple months. I'm resting it as much as possible so I'll be ready for  "Stitches" next month. I already  have a list of things to look for.

the button jar

I've been adding my buttons to  Pinterest this week. It takes me so long because I enjoy looking at them and organizing them by color and size. I still am not sure how I am going to display them in my sewing room. If I can see what I have I will use them in more projects.

Current project

I've had this chart in my stash for a couple years and started working on it last week. It has a lot of stitches in addition to the traditional cross stitch. It has been a lot of fun but it also had been somewhat of a challenge. The instructions are in French, which of course I don't read . Thank goodness for google translate.

Vintage Friday

I recently found this transfer pack while looking for something else in my pattern stash. I liked it so much I changed my plans and started it this morning. I would like to make the whole set.

Little Bo-Peep

I'm joining Corey for Lil' Vintage Story this morning.

I hope you enjoyed this little story. Once I started I couldn't stop.

Rosie's doll

I've been sorting through all my fabric and deciding what I want to keep and what to get rid of. It can be hard parting with some of it so I'm trying to find new ways to use it. It has been a long time since I've made any dolls, but this is a good way to use smaller pieces instead of just giving them to Goodwill. I also found this old pattern and brought it back to use. This doll is going to a little girl named Rosie.

A long overdue finish

I made this quilt from a kit I bought from County Threads a few years ago while at a quilt show. I actually finished the quilt, had it quilted and the binding on but not completed. It hung in my closet for years just waiting. This past weekend I pulled it out and hand sewed  the binding. I really don't know why it took so long. I enjoy doing the hand work on bindings, I think I just forgot I had it. Oh well , it's complete now and has a new home in one of my favorite places in the house, the same spot I sit and do all my hand sewing.

The Little Red Bicycle

This is my first time linking up with Lil Vintage Story Books.

I picked The Little Red Bicycle because it reminded me of Bryce and Micah.
.
The story is about a little boy, Stevie and his birthday gift from Grandpa and Grandma.

Stevie receives a red bicycle but he is still too little to reach the pedals.

They put the bicycle in the garage until Stevie's legs grow long enough for him to ride.

Time passes, a whole year goes by. Many things have changed. His sister grows, his puppy grows, even Stevie has grown two whole inches taller! Finally his legs were long enough to reach and...

Thanks for visiting.
