I got a little side-tracked from my "summer to-do list" this past week. I was looking for vintage crochet patterns to make glass jackets and I found this pattern. It was originally a crocheted doily pattern but it looked like cross stitch to me. I don't know what the fabric is, I found this piece in my stash. I used one strand Splendor silk over two threads. This was so much fun, I think I found a new addiction. I have my next pattern already picked out. I just need to find a piece of fabric.Wednesday, July 15, 2009
Crochet or Cross-stitch?

Summer Finish
I was able to finish this quilt last weekend. I purchased the kit two years ago at Chicago Quilt Market held at Rosemont. It was made from a Moda charm pak and pattern provided by Country Threads. It is one of the projects on my todo list for the summer. I plan on taking it to a long-arm quilter for finishing later this summer. I think I give it to Amanda when she buys her new home. It would look so cute hanging up in the back porch.

Vintage Friday, sort of
This weeks vintage item is new and old. I made it this past week, but I used a vintage transfer. I have no idea how old the transfer is. It was included in an Aunt Martha's Hot Iron Taransfer called Kitchen Usefulness. I don't think it is from that collection though, it is not shown on the cover of the envelope. I think the original owner just stuck it in there. The patterns had been cut up and put back in the envelope. I followed the directions on the other transfers and printed it on a towel I found in a cabinet at my mother's. The colors make it look fall-like. I like that. I can put it out in October.

Just another Thursday
No pictures today. I am mending from carpal tunnel repair on my right hand and the removal of arthritis in my finger. I have the stitches removed and start therapy next week. I won't be able to knit or crochet for a while so those projects are on hold until later this summer. As part of my own rehab I have been able to do a tiny bit of cross stitch, about 20 stitches per hour. I hope to be able to use this time to organize some future projects. As always there is so much I want to do.

1st Summer Finish
I finished the stitching on this piece yesterday morning. It is my first monogram. I think it is beautiful. Jim gave me the book for Mother's Day.Saturday, June 6, 2009
Summer Fun

I think if I make myself a list of all the projects I'd like to finish over the summer I will have a better chance of getting them done. I have so much I want to do. These are just a few, but it is a good place to start. I like to work on several different types of crafts at the same time. Most of these I've had for awhile so it is time I get them done. I'm sure I'll be adding others to the mix but that's okay. I want to enjoy the process not stress over it. I'll try to keep posting my progress.
